1985
Establishing the machine shop in Lem
Vestas predicts the growth of the wind energy industry. To prepare, a brand-new machine shop is built in Lem, Denmark, supporting Vestas’s machining of nacelles and turbine blades.
2002
Acquiring Windcast Group
Windcast Group, and their four iron foundries across Norway, Germany, and Sweden, is acquired by Vestas, marking the completion of Vestas insourcing the entire turbine design and manufacturing value chain.
2006-2009
Rapid global expansion
Global turbine development is growing. Vestas establishes several new facilities to maintain strategically advantageous proximity to emerging markets. The facilities include a Chinese casting site in Xuzhou and machining facility in Tianjin.
2013
Global Castings is founded
The German industrial holding company VTC GmbH & Co. KG enters a strategic deal with Vestas. Two machining units, four casting units, and 1,000+ employees across Norway, Sweden, Germany, China, and Denmark are acquired. Global Castings is born.
2014-2020
Facility in Stade, Germany
Global Castings enters a joint venture with Norderland/Etanax Group, which handled casting and machining of elements up to 80 tons. Baettr closes the factory in 2020 due to market conditions. After the closure, Baettr establishes a center of expert competences in Stade.
2017
New wind customers
Global Castings welcomes GE Vernova and Siemens Gamesa as customers.
2019
We are Baettr
In 2019, the new brand, Baettr, is launched as a celebration of our commitment to making renewable energy available to all parts of the world.
2021
Baettr wins Vestas’ Supplier Award 2021 for Sustainability
Vestas grants Baettr their Supplier Award for Sustainability. The award cements our sustainability journey is full on and is noticed externally
2022
Baettr India founded
In December of 2020, Baettr builds a new foundry in Chennai – as well as partner with Wheels India and SKEW, who establish machining and surface treatment facilities. The three facilities are door by door and were officially opened April 2022.
2023
Platinum in Indian Industry’s IGBC Green Factory Buildings Certification
Baettr India makes history by being the first Indian foundry ever to receive the platinum rating from Indian Industry’s IGBC Green Factory Buildings. The rating is valid until 2026.
2023
EcoVadis Bronze
Baettr achieves the EcoVadis Bronze Medal and is in the top 35% companies with a score of 55/100. EcoVadis is a third-party company, assessing companies’ ability to integrate EcoVadis’s seven founding principles of sustainability/CSR in their business and management system.
2024
Baettr acquires Ostfriesland
The former Enercon foundry in Ostfriesland, Germany, is acquired. As part of the transaction, Baettr enters a strategic partnership with Enercon, with the purpose to support and develop the supply chain to market standard.
2024
EcoVadis Bronze
Baettr retains the EcoVadis Bronze Medal with a significant improvement of the score: 62/100. This highlights our continued commitment to sustainability and ESG.
2024
Wins Best Foundry of the Year Award in Chennai, India
Baettr India is awarded the prestigious Best Foundry of the Year by The Institute of Foundrymen in the Chennai Chapter in India.
